Energy consulting, Energy simulations

With the introduction of the German Energy Conservation Ordinance (EnEV), integrating and coordinating energy-efficient building design has become mandatory in Germany. We offer our clients not only EnEV certification, but also an integrated energy-efficiency plan. In addition to helping you fulfill the legal requirements, we will be happy to set up a plan which will allow you to conserve even more energy – and can also advise you on how to apply for external funding.

Especially with new buildings which have a zero-energy, passive house or energy-plus standard, we use thermal building simulations so that the measures for conserving energy can be optimally aligned with one another. If you wish, we can calculate the CO2 savings of your building in comparison with existing buildings or EnEV reference buildings.

With regard to sustainability certification, we can offer you German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) audits in cooperation with our engineering partner Dr. Trinius.

Before the European Directive on the Energy Efficiency of Buildings (Energy Passport) was implemented in 2007, we had already been active in this area. For example, we had participated in both field tests of the German Energy Agency (DENA) for the introduction of energy passports. We therefore have a wealth of experience with the calculation methods of DIN 18599 – both for residential- and for non-residential buildings. In addition, we were actively involved in a research project commissioned by the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR) to determine energy consumption in existing buildings.

We also help clients select appropriate regenerative energy sources as required by the Renewable Energy Heating Act (EEWärmeG) and offer energy consulting when buildings are going to be retrofitted.

Consulting is carried out by specially qualified engineers and includes a detailed analysis of the current state of the building, its energy consumption and its emissions. Then a list of measures is prepared which contains retrofitting recommendations for improving thermal insulation, exchanging heating systems, and planning new facilities which use renewable energy.

To receive certain subsidies from the KfW Bank, e.g. low-interest loans and/or repayment bonuses, energy consulting is a prerequisite. This type of consulting is supported by the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA), if the on-site consultation is carried out by one of our BAFA-registered energy consultants
