Building Description

The steel hall roof of the office and laboratory building required a hot measurement to verify the integrity of the structure. This was achieved through a CFD simulation of a fire in the office rooms on the upper floor. The results showed that the steel structure had the required fire resistance duration even without the intumescent coating, so the coating did not need further maintenance.

A hot calculation with a structural calculation for F90 requirements. The calculation was standardised to allow re-use of the report for other structures from the same manufacturer. A CFD simulation validated against ETK requirements was also part of this of project.

The EDGE office building built near the Berlin main train-station is innovative and highly modern. Lenz Weber were responsible for the creative and economical solutions for fire protection of the steel sub-structure.

Mont-Blanc Centre Geneva

The project is regarding the renovation of a 1950’s historically protected cinema in Geneva, the building is exceptionally interesting as the main structure is made from 30m long Aluminium frames . The work was commissioned by our colleagues at Ingeni Sarl and we worked closely with them throughout the project. Our part was to model how possible fires could spread, how the smoke would develop in the building and to calculate the expected temperatures of the Aluminium superstructure. Ingeni then calculated the expected time to failure from these temperatures.
